Bishop Wilton is 14 miles east of York, with its Minster, city walls and museums, including the National Railway Museum and Jorvik Viking Centre. Market town of Pocklington, 5 miles, has good shopping, sport facilities and restaurants. The coast at Bridlington and Filey, both with wide sandy bays, 30 miles. North York Moors National Park, with steam railway at Pickering, 23 miles. Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes are all nearby. Village shop and excellent inn/restaurant, 1 mile. The Grange is an ideal location for your holiday or short break to get away from it all. There are numerous public footpaths in the area, including the Minster Way and other Wolds walks. The quiet country roads with their wide verges are perfect for cycling or horse riding.
Directions
Travelling East from York to Bridlington on the A166, after approx. 12 miles at the foot of Garrowby Hill, turn right signed Bishop Wilton/Pocklington. Follow the road for just over a mile and as you enter the village of Bishop Wilton, turn right signed Youlthorpe/Gowthorpe. After a mile where the lane bends, carry straight on into the drive signed Grange Farm.
